The Lake County Health Department requesting vendors to participate in the
3rd Annual World Aids Day Celebration
Leesburg – The Lake County Health Department is requesting vendors who are interested in participating in their 3rd Annual World AIDS Day celebration at the Leesburg Recreational Complex on Saturday, December 1st from 9:00 – 1:00 PM. Vendors will be selected based on items that complement the theme of the festival. Space is limited and there is no charge to vendors who participate in the event.
Florida ranks third in the nation in the number of AIDS cases and at the end of 2011 92,738 adults in Florida were living with HIV/AIDS. At least I in 68 black women in Florida are living with HIV/AIDS and at least I in 44 black men in Florida are living with HIV/AIDS. For 18 consecutive years HIV/AIDS has been the leading cause of death for black females between the ages of 25-44 and is currently the 3rd leading cause of death for black males ages 25-44. Whereas 1 in 29 White Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) are living with HIV/AIDS and 1 in 12 black MSM are living with HIV/AIDS.
“We are hosting our 3rd annual event so residents and visitors can help our community fight this disease by taking charge and getting tested,” states Lake County Health Department’s Public Information Officer Sheri Hutchinson.
